Forensics Analyst

DGS is seeking qualified candidates who will perform advanced digital media forensic examinations in support of a US Government customer. Duties will include the imaging of digital media including internal and external computer hard drives, thumb drives, flash memory, CDs and DVDs, cellular telephones, etc. The candidate will use various analytic and investigative tools to examine the physical and logical data structures and files or fragments seeking information of interest, and other related evidence responsive to your analytic tasking. The candidate will also prepare reports of your findings in writing. The candidate will work as highly specialized skilled member of a team of engineers focused on combining technical analysis with intelligence. The candidate will research and maintain proficiency in tools, techniques, technology, and procedures regarding computer and network security, data hiding, and various forensic disciplines. 

 

The Candidate Must Have:

  • The ability to:
    • Inventory the seized digital evidence for identifiable information and duplicate/image for preservation purposes.
    • Identify computer viruses.
    • Recover active, system and hidden filenames with date/time stamp information.
    • Detect and recover erased files.
    • Detect and recover file slack.
    • Detect and recover file fragments (unallocated clusters).
    • View various file formats using browser technology and selectively print files of interest.
    • Crack (or attempt to crack) password protected files.
    • Perform keyword or string searches.
    • Report findings in writing.
  • Subject matter expertise in DOS, Windows, MAC, UNIX, iOS, Android, and/or other operating systems.
  • Experience using ILook, Guidance Software (Encase), Access Data (FTK), Magnet Forensics, Nuix, Cellebrite and other industry standard applications.
  • Experience utilizing best practices in chain of custody documentation and project documentation.
  • An active/current TOP SECRET SCI security clearance.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills,
  • The ability to work with a high degree of professionalism in a team environment
  • The ability to develop, implement and manage cyber security and computer forensic engagements from start to finish.
  • Certifications or advanced training in one or more of the following disciplines: computer evidence seizure, computer forensic analysis, data recovery; cellular device exploitation; computer intrusion analysis and incident response, intrusion detection; computer network surveillance/monitoring; network protocols, network devices, multiple operating systems, or secure architectures.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in one or more of the following: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Security, Digital Forensics or a related field.
